Instagram Roundup: Since I've Been Gone

Sometimes I dress like an English skinhead in the 1980s.

My new work shirt is adorable!

I spend a LOT of time cuffing my denim.

I may have been a little over-eager picking my sister up from college.

Curvy & Cool with it.

Got the MOST ADORABLE save the date in the mail!

Flaxseed bread, local honey, salad turnip, fresh strawberry.
Makes a great snack!

I was very pleased with how my makeup turned out.

"Campfire" ice cream from the local creamery:
marshmallow, graham cracker, fudge swirls.

One of my favorite babies that comes to the farm

Been obsessed with this for breakfast & dessert:
homemade granola, banana, strawberries, and chocolate chips!

Sometimes I read farming magazines while farming.

My boss made me DELICIOUS bacon-grease crepes.

For memorial day my dad and I made burgers using fresh, locally grown organic beef topped with Vidalia onions, extra sharp cheddar, chopped lettuce, and a big ol' pickle on the side.

I use antlers in all of my decorating.

Beautiful "Farm Gal" bouquet at work!

My sister and I are absolutely salivating over the idea of a Lily sofa.

I bought a cactus. His name is Bernard.
The reason I bought him? The tag said this is a "red-headed irishman" so obviously I brought him home.

Fresh guac, salad turnips, fresh pesto, and chocolate orange espresso!

The chickens REFUSED to go in the henhouse when it was raining.
Honestly.

Enjoyed an amazing brunch with my sister at Maison Kayser in NYC.

My sister has double the amount of Alex and Ani bracelets as I have. This will not stand.
But we have matching cupcake ones that we got together in NYC!

We took a tourist-y selfie on the subway platform.
People frequently don't believe that we are related.
Everyone I work with drives a white Chevy. It's awesome.

Grilled corn on the cob with spicy aioli. I love tapas!!

My sister and I tried to get the spare key to leave a father's day note at my grandparent's house.
We failed. But we found a chalkboard! Problem solved.

My boss made me dinner! Grilled cheese and chocolate covered strawberries.

And here's my boss! She found a turtle in the chicken coop.

Cloud cover at the beach.

Alrighty! So that's what I've been up to these past weeks. Looking forward to what's coming next!

Where I've Been....

I'm hardly known for my posting consistency, but almost two months of silence is a hell of a lot longer than I would like to go.

Quite a bit has changed in the past two months.
I left my job at the cafe (at least for now) and started working at a local organic farm.
On the same day that I left the cafe, I broke up with my boyfriend.

While I've been enjoying these changes (and I'm very confident that my choices were the right ones) I've had a lot of adjustments to make in my day-to-day life.
I missed blogging, and I've decided to re-dedicate myself to it.
To start, I'm just going to post once a week - either on Wednesday or Sunday but hopefully once I get into a habit of posting once a week I'll be able to increase that number.

I'll be posting an pretty large instagram round-up this Sunday so that you can see what I've been up to while I've been gone!

On the Hunt: Gold Necklaces!

With the change of season all around me, not to mention my upcoming new job, I'm really feeling "out with the old and in with the new!"

Mainly right now, I just want a new (gold) necklace.

I wear a very old (very silver) Tiffany Letter Lock Charm every day.
Every single day, with every outfit. I'm just not the kind of person who can be bothered to change my jewelry up every day - I wear the same earrings, ring, and bracelets every single day. If I'm being completely honest with you, I don't even take them off to shower or sleep.
It's all or nothing.

My mom gave me this necklace when I turned 18 and I loved it - still do. But I don't really wear silver jewelry and I definitely would prefer a daintier style.

Can we just talk about how hard it is to find the exact necklace I'm imagining? In my imagination it has an oak leaf stamped with an H and maybe a pearl or birthstone charm but the closest I'm getting has MASSIVE charms like woah I don't want a statement necklace, Etsy.

Also WHY wouldn't you post a picture of the necklace on a model or bust? Like I'm sorry that I don't understand spatial reasoning but I don't know how big 16mm is please illustrate accordingly.

Anybody have any suggestions for me??

What's In My [makeup] Bag?!

Hello guys & dolls!
Today we have a super exciting installment of What's In My Bag!

I recently re-packed my makeup bag for spring and I thought I'd share my staples with you.
The bag itself is from Benefit, I received it as a gift with purchase and I absolutely adore it - I can fit so much in there.

For the eyes:
UD Naked 2 Palette, Rimmel Scandal Eyes Mascara, Benefit Oo La La Lift, Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, UD Primer Potion, Brown liner, Black liner.

For the face:
Benefit Coralista, Jemma Kid Showstopper Bronzer, Almay TLC Foundation, Benefit Boi-ing Concealer, MAC Oh So Fair Beauty Powder

Tools
Blonde bobby pins, wine opener, mini kabuki brush, blush brush, crease brush, all-over shadow brush, small fluffy brush, two cream liner brushes.

Yea, I seriously carry ALL of this in that makeup bag.
Even the wine opener.

Here are swatches of the blushes and bronzer for you guys!

Jemma Kidd Showstopper Bronzer

Benefit Coralista

MAC Oh So Fair Beauty Powder

The moral of the story is... I carry around a lot of stuff.

And seriously NEVER be without a wine opener.
I have one in my purse, one in my makeup bag, and one in my glove box.

Grown-Up Spring Break??

Turns out that middle of the road cold I was complaining about is more of an upper respiratory infection hanging out with a sinus infection.

I woke up this morning with the voice of a very sultry drag queen and a gross cough.
The doctor poked and prodded me, gave me a prescription and strict orders not to return to work until Tuesday.

Tuesday.

So, no. I'm not going on a grown-up spring break. I'm quarantined on the sun porch.
Believe me, I would much rather be laying out in St. Tropez or even shivering in Canada than stuck sniffling here in New England.

Looks like I'm going to make some serious headway on The X-Files.
I got through most of season 3 yesterday, and with this level of immersion I'm going to have to remind myself that it is not the 90's and loose-fitting pantsuits are definitely not in style.

WHY SCULLY? WHY?
Between these suits and the fanny packs it's a wonder you still look so beautiful.

Sick Day & Avocado Toast Recipe

I've been sick a lot this past year. Nothing serious, but certainly more colds and sore throats than I'm used to.
Right now, I've got a middle of the road cold. Just bad enough to keep me out of work but I'm not running a worryingly high fever or having any stomach issues.
Yesterday I slept until noon (unthinkable) and then fell asleep again around 2 while watching Treasure Planet (thank you Netflix) and didn't wake up again until 8pm.

Today I was a little less sleepy, and actually managed to eat a light meal.
I made myself some delicious avocado toast with a crisp Gala apple.

Avocado Toast
1 slice of good bread
1/2 avocado
TT chili pepper flakes
TT freshly ground black pepper
TT sea salt
TT lemon juice
*TT = To taste

Toast your bread fairly dark so it has a good crunch to it.
Scoop the avocado onto the toast and mush it down with a fork
Grind black pepper over it
Sprinkle flakes and salt over toast
Squirt some lemon juice on top!

It's pretty much the easiest thing ever. Way healthier than toast with butter and jam, and much more filling! I bet it would be even better with a little bit of melted sharp cheddar on top... hmmmm there goes the health factor.

On sick days I like to catch up on reading food blogs and TV shows.
My dad responds to me feeling under the weather by serving me tea by the gallon.
He's from England so he can't help himself. If something is wrong, you get tea.

P.S. I had a pretty nice dream this afternoon involving a hot shower and Colton Haynes.
Maybe being sick isn't so bad after all!
P.S. If you want to see more of this hot actor (who wouldn't) I recommend watching Teen Wolf and Arrow!
